![]() A while back we picked up a couple of new bicycles, and decided to take up bike riding as a regular activity. We have a combination of mountain bikes (from 24" to 26" wheels). I picked up a new Mongoose XR200 from WalMart. What a beautiful bike! It was shiny chrome, with black and a touch of red. It's dual-suspension, with a disc brake in the front. I had a Mongoose BMX bike as a child, and was excited to get another Mongoose. ![]() After a few weeks, I found that the bike wasn't really up to the task of what I wanted to do with it. I like to do wheelies, bunny hops, kickouts, etc. Up and down a couple of curbs, and I was already having to true the wheels. I was meeting someone at a local WalMart parking lot, to pick up a bike for one of my sons, but he kept me waiting a little bit. So, I went into the store, and I saw a Mongoose Blackcomb. I bought it right away, and returned the XR200. This bike is beefier, with dual disc brakes, quick-click shifters, adjustable front suspension fork, a stronger rear-suspension spring, and a much more comfortable seat. ![]() In 2010 I picked up a 2010 Specialized FSRxc. This bike fits me very well, is relatively light, and rides very smooth. The bike shop I bought it from offers free lifetime service. ![]() |
